Goa Hotel Worker Dies of Electric Shock; Contractor Booked

Panaji: Anjuna police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Akshay Pandurang Injal, a resident of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, for allegedly failing to provide adequate safety measures to workers installing LED lights at a hotel. The incident occurred at Hotel Park Regis in Arpora, resulting in the death of a 24-year-old worker from electric shock.

Victim Identified

The deceased has been identified as Aniket Maruti Patil, a 24-year-old resident of Belagavi, Karnataka. According to the FIR, Patil was employed by Injal, who is the proprietor of ‘NK Lights’, to install LED lights at the banquet hall of the hotel.

Details of the Incident

The FIR states that on June 3 at around 4:30 PM, work was being carried out at the banquet hall. Injal had engaged Patil to install LED lights on the aluminium truss mounted above the main stage. However, the accused failed to provide any safety equipment or ensure that all necessary safety measures were observed.

“Due to the negligence of the accused person, the victim suffered an electric shock while doing the LED setup and he died due to electrocution,” the FIR reads. Following the incident, the police issued a notice to the accused.

Legal Action

The Anjuna police have initiated legal proceedings against Injal under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for causing death by negligence. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
