Police in Giridih district made a significant seizure on Monday. Officers confiscated a large consignment of silver during a routine vehicle-checking drive. This operation took place within the limits of Rajdhanwar police station.

Massive Haul Worth Crores

The recovered items include both raw silver bars and finished jewellery. Authorities estimate the total value at around Rs 1 crore. The seizure resulted from specific intelligence received by the police.

Operation Based on Tip-Off

Giridih Superintendent of Police Vimal Kumar provided details about the case. "We received information regarding a gang attempting to sell ill-gotten silver," Kumar stated. "A dedicated team was immediately formed to act on this tip."

During the operation, police personnel intercepted a suspicious car. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the discovery. Officers found a bag and a sack placed near the seat.

Detailed Inventory of Seized Items

The contents of the bags were meticulously documented:

  • Six pieces of melted silver bars with a total weight of 32.457 kilograms.
  • A substantial quantity of silver ornaments.

SP Kumar listed the specific jewellery items recovered:

  • 42 pairs of silver anklets
  • 13 silver chains
  • Six bracelets
  • 12 silver 'paan patta' ornaments
  • Three pairs of bangles
  • 44 pairs of toe rings

Driver Detained for Questioning

Police identified the driver of the intercepted vehicle as Hazrat Ansari. He is a resident of the Parson outpost area. Authorities have detained him for detailed questioning regarding the origin and intended destination of the silver consignment.
