A devastating road accident in Ghaziabad's Teela Mod area resulted in three fatalities and left a young boy injured on Sunday afternoon. The collision involved a truck and a motorcycle, causing immediate chaos and grief.
Tragic Family Outing Turns Deadly
The victims have been identified as Lalit Singh, aged 37, his wife Pinky, 34, and their son Aarav, who was just 10 years old. All three residents of Delhi lost their lives in the horrific incident. Their younger son, Neerav, aged 7, sustained injuries and received treatment at GTB Hospital in Delhi.
Police Investigation Reveals Details
According to ACP Atul Kumar Singh from Shalimar Garden, the accident occurred around 4 pm. Lalit Singh, who operated a trouser factory in Delhi, was traveling with his family to visit relatives in Muradnagar. The family rode on a single motorcycle, with the children positioned between their parents.
Police reports indicate that Lalit attempted to overtake the truck on Loni Road. Suddenly, he applied brakes upon spotting a pothole. This action caused the speeding truck to collide with the motorcycle from behind. The impact threw Lalit, Pinky, and Aarav onto the road, where the truck's wheels tragically ran over them.
Immediate Aftermath and Public Response
The three family members died instantly at the scene. Young Neerav suffered a broken leg bone but survived the crash. The truck driver, identified as Sanjay Kumar, aged 44 and a resident of Loni, initially fled but was later apprehended by authorities.
Local residents quickly gathered at the accident site, expressing anger and blocking Loni Road in protest. Police personnel arrived promptly to manage the situation, calming the agitated crowd and restoring order. The blockage created significant traffic congestion along the busy roadway.
Scene Clearance and Legal Action
Officers removed both the truck, which was transporting LPG cylinders, and the damaged motorcycle from the road. This action helped normalize traffic flow in the area. Police confirmed they have detained the driver and will file a First Information Report against him shortly.
The bodies of the deceased were sent for postmortem examination as part of standard investigative procedures. The injured boy remains under medical care, with doctors monitoring his condition closely.
This tragic incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and infrastructure maintenance in the region. It serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of speeding vehicles and hazardous road conditions.
