Ghaziabad Murder Case: Three Arrested and Minor Detained for Killing 32-Year-Old Man
In a shocking development in Ghaziabad, three men have been arrested and a minor has been detained by police for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 32-year-old man in the Kavi Nagar area. The incident, which has sent ripples through the community, was confirmed by authorities on Monday.
Discovery of the Victim's Body
On April 10, police made a grim discovery when they found the body of Jitendra Chauhan in a drain located in Chiranjeevi Vihar near the railway line. The victim had sustained four bullet wounds, indicating a violent attack. Approximately 500 meters away from the crime scene, near the Diamond flyover, Chauhan's scooter was found parked, providing crucial evidence for investigators.
Following the discovery, Chauhan's wife, Chital, filed a formal complaint at the Kavi Nagar police station. Based on her statement, authorities registered a First Information Report (FIR) under BNS Section 103, which pertains to murder charges.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Kavi Nagar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Suryabali Maurya revealed that multiple police teams were swiftly formed to track down the suspects. The individuals identified were Gaurav Kumar, a resident of Wave City, and Bobby Pal along with his two sons, aged 19 and 17, from Bamheta village.
Through meticulous analysis of CCTV footage from surrounding areas and intensive surveillance operations, police managed to apprehend the suspects on Sunday night. The arrests took place on the service road in front of Om Gate, Chowki Audyogik Kshetra, marking a significant breakthrough in the case.
Motives Behind the Murder
During the subsequent investigation, police uncovered disturbing family connections and motives behind the killing. It was revealed that Bobby Pal was Jitendra Chauhan's brother-in-law, while Gaurav Kumar was his cousin.
Gaurav allegedly confessed to police that Chauhan had attempted to rape his 15-year-old sister approximately two months prior to the incident. He further claimed that Chauhan had targeted his mother two years earlier as well. When Gaurav objected to these actions, Chauhan reportedly assaulted him publicly, escalating tensions between them.
"Jitendra organized a prayer session (jagran) at his house a few days ago. There, he brought out the topic and humiliated Gaurav again," stated ACP Maurya, highlighting the ongoing conflict.
Planning and Execution of the Crime
Driven by a desire for revenge, Gaurav began seeking ways to settle scores with Chauhan. His search led him to discover that Chauhan had also allegedly tried to force himself upon Bobby Pal's daughter-in-law, who is the wife of 19-year-old Vishant. This revelation caused significant distress within the Pal family, who were already troubled by Chauhan's behavior.
The four individuals then allegedly conspired to prevent Chauhan from further targeting female family members. Their first attempt occurred on February 8, when they shot at Chauhan while he was riding his scooter. Fortunately, the bullet missed its target, and Chauhan escaped unharmed.
Undeterred, the group planned another attack on April 9. Vishant's younger brother called Chauhan that Thursday evening, claiming that Vishant was lying drunk under the Diamond flyover and urgently needed assistance. When Chauhan arrived on his scooter and attempted to help, the younger brother threw chilli powder into his eyes, causing severe pain and disorientation.
Seizing the opportunity, Gaurav and Bobby attacked Chauhan, firing three shots at him. Two bullets struck Chauhan, causing him to fall into a nearby drain. As he struggled to climb out, Bobby fired another round from a country-made pistol, ensuring fatal injuries.
"The men did not know how many bullets had hit Jitendra. They were scared about being discovered and immediately fled," explained ACP Maurya. "The men hid the pistol and the deceased's mobile phone in the bushes in the industrial area. We have recovered the country-made pistol from one of the accused. We are trying to find out how they acquired the illegal pistol."
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Police continue to investigate the case thoroughly, focusing on how the accused obtained the illegal firearm used in the crime. The minor detained in connection with the murder is being handled according to juvenile justice protocols, while the three adult suspects face serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
This tragic incident underscores the complex family dynamics and escalating conflicts that can lead to violent outcomes. Authorities have emphasized the importance of legal recourse rather than vigilante justice, urging community members to report crimes through proper channels.
