A tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a 30-year-old man in Ghaziabad on Wednesday night. The victim, identified as Amit Kumar, was riding his motorcycle home from his Noida office when an unidentified vehicle struck him near the UP Gate underpass in Kaushambi.
Fatal Collision and Immediate Aftermath
The collision occurred around 10 pm. The offending vehicle fled the scene immediately after the impact. Amit Kumar sustained severe injuries in the crash. Bystanders rushed him to a hospital in Delhi for emergency treatment.
Despite medical efforts, Kumar succumbed to his injuries on Thursday. His death has left his family and community in shock.
Police Action and FIR Registration
Following the incident, Kumar's brother, Indrapal Singh, filed a formal police complaint. The Indirapuram police swiftly registered a First Information Report (FIR) at the Kaushambi police station.
ACP Abhishek Srivastava confirmed the registration. The FIR invokes sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the unidentified driver. The charges include:
- Section 281: Rash driving or riding on a public way.
- Section 106: Causing death by negligence.
- Section 324(4): Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees.
Investigation Underway
Police have formed a dedicated team to apprehend the accused. Investigators are currently scanning CCTV footage from cameras installed in the vicinity of the UP Gate underpass.
"We are checking the CCTV cameras of the nearby areas to confirm the identity of the accused and the vehicle," stated ACP Abhishek Srivastava. The footage is crucial for identifying the vehicle and tracing the driver responsible for this fatal act.

This incident highlights a persistent and alarming road safety issue in Ghaziabad. Official data paints a concerning picture of the city's streets.
Last year, the city recorded an average of three accidents every single day. This daily toll resulted in more than one death and two injuries on average.
The trend has continued into the current year. From January 1 to November 30, 2025, Ghaziabad witnessed a staggering 1,007 road accidents. These crashes led to 376 fatalities and 770 injuries, underscoring a severe public safety challenge.
