Ghaziabad Cleaner Found Dead Under Banquet Hall Lift
A tragic incident unfolded in Ghaziabad's Sihani Gate area when the body of a 24-year-old cleaner was discovered trapped under a goods lift inside a banquet hall. The victim, identified as Shiv Kumar from Hapur, worked as a cleaner at the Red K Velvet Banquet hall.
Discovery of the Body
Police officials reported that the grim discovery occurred around 11 am on Friday. Rajesh Singh, the manager of Red K Velvet Banquet, found the body and immediately alerted the authorities. Assistant Commissioner of Police Upasana Pandey confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is currently underway.
Possible Accident Scenario
According to initial police statements, Shiv Kumar might have died after getting stuck in the lift. The contractor who hired him, Mahendra, provided details about the cleaner's last known movements. He explained that Shiv Kumar and several other workers had been called to the banquet hall on Thursday afternoon for cleaning duties.
Mahendra suspects that the young cleaner might have been attempting to board the lift to travel to the first floor while carrying a bucket and some brooms. The lift possibly stopped due to overloading at that moment. In the resulting confusion, Shiv Kumar might have lost his balance. His head could have been crushed between the lift structure and the wall.
"A safety cover was installed on the lift," Mahendra told police. "This cover prevented anyone from seeing him trapped there."
The contractor further explained that after finishing work in the evening, he and Shiv Kumar's colleagues searched for the missing cleaner but could not locate him. "In the morning, I learned that his body had been found under the lift," Mahendra stated.
Police Observations and Family Allegations
Police examination revealed disturbing details about the body's condition. The right ear was completely cut off, and the face showed severe crushing on the same side. Investigators suspect that the body might have fallen from the lift at some point during the night.
Shiv Kumar's cousin shared information about the victim's background. The young man had been living in Nandgram and working various menial jobs for several years. Recently, he had developed a drinking habit.
However, the family has raised serious allegations about the circumstances of Shiv Kumar's death. They believe he was murdered rather than dying in an accident. The cousin specifically alleged that colleagues might have killed Shiv Kumar following some dispute. He suggested that the body might have been deliberately hidden in the lift area.
The family is now waiting for the autopsy report to provide clarity about the exact cause of death. Police continue to investigate both the accident theory and the murder allegations while examining all available evidence from the banquet hall scene.
