Gas Agency Employee Arrested for LPG Black-Marketing in Auraiya District
Police in Auraiya district have taken decisive action against illegal activities in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supply chain by arresting a computer operator from a local gas agency. The individual was allegedly involved in the black-marketing of domestic LPG cylinders, a practice that disrupts essential commodity distribution and poses significant safety risks.
Raid Uncovers Unsafe Storage of Cylinders
Acting on orders from the district magistrate, a joint raid team conducted an operation in Jaitapur village under the Sadar Kotwali area. The investigation led them to the residence of Shivam Kumar Dikshit, where they discovered a cache of LPG cylinders stored in a room. Officials reported finding a total of 28 Indane gas cylinders, comprising nine filled and 19 empty units.
The unsafe storage of these cylinders in a crowded residential area was described as a disaster waiting to happen, highlighting the severe public safety concerns associated with such illegal stockpiling. Proper handling and storage of LPG are critical to prevent accidents, and this case underscores the dangers of circumventing regulated procedures.
Confession and Investigation Details
During interrogation, Shivam Kumar Dikshit confessed to his involvement in the black-marketing scheme. He admitted to working as a salesman and computer operator at Shri Darshan Indane Gas Service and revealed that he conducted the illegal activities from his home to earn extra profit. This confession provided crucial evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Further scrutiny by authorities revealed the alleged involvement of the gas agency owner, Ajit Kumar Mishra. As a result, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against both individuals under the Essential Commodities Act, which governs the distribution and pricing of vital goods like LPG to prevent hoarding and black-marketing.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Efforts
Shivam Kumar Dikshit was promptly arrested and produced before a local court, which subsequently sent him to judicial custody. He has been remanded to Etawah jail as the legal process unfolds. Police officials have stated that they are actively working to apprehend the agency owner, Ajit Kumar Mishra, to ensure all parties involved face justice.
