MORADABAD: A tragic incident unfolded in Khanpura village of Moradabad district on Sunday, where a dispute among three friends resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man and left another seriously injured.
Incident Details
According to police, Ankit (22) and Ajit were heading to a nearby forest in the morning when they encountered their friend Vishal, who was already present there. An argument reportedly erupted over an unspecified issue and quickly escalated, news agency PTI reported.
During the altercation, Vishal allegedly opened fire, killing Ankit on the spot and seriously injuring Ajit. The accused fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Police Response
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. Ankit’s body was sent for post-mortem examination, while the injured Ajit was rushed to a hospital for treatment, PTI reported.
The exact cause of the dispute is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, forensic teams collected evidence from the scene, officials said.
Investigation Underway
Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kunwar Akash Singh said a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint filed by the deceased’s family. “The three youths were reportedly close friends. We are investigating what triggered the dispute and how it escalated into such a tragic incident,” a police officer said.
Authorities added that the families of both the deceased and the accused are being questioned as part of the investigation.
