Tragic Motorcycle Crash Claims Four Young Lives on Mandla-Jabalpur Highway
In a devastating late-night incident, four youths lost their lives after the motorcycle they were riding on lost control and plunged off a culvert on the Mandla–Jabalpur highway in Mandla district, Madhya Pradesh. The accident occurred near Bhainswahi village under the jurisdiction of the Bijadandi police station late Saturday night, according to police reports.
Details of the Fatal Accident
Preliminary investigations by the police indicate that overspeeding and loss of control were the primary factors leading to the crash. The motorcycle, carrying all four individuals, reportedly veered off the road and fell from a culvert that stands more than 10 feet above ground level. "The bridge from which they fell was more than 10 feet above ground. And primarily, falling from the bridge after losing balance seems to be the reason that led to the accident," stated Bijadandi police station incharge Anita Kudape in an interview with TOI.
Victims Identified and Immediate Aftermath
All four riders succumbed to their injuries on the spot. Their bodies were subsequently transported to a hospital for post-mortem examination. The victims were officially identified on Sunday as:
- Pramod Kumar Nareti, aged 24
- Santalal Uikey, aged 23
- Shivam Yadav, aged 17
- Ganga Ram Uikey, aged 22
Police noted that initial identification was challenging, but the identities were confirmed in the early hours of Sunday. Following the post-mortem, the bodies were handed over to their respective families.
Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings
A formal case has been registered in connection with the accident, and authorities are conducting a thorough probe to ascertain further details. "A case has been registered and further probe is going on," added Anita Kudape. The investigation continues to examine all aspects of the crash, including potential contributing factors beyond overspeeding.
This tragic event underscores the dangers of high-speed driving on highways, particularly during nighttime hours. The local community and authorities are mourning the loss of these young lives, emphasizing the need for heightened road safety awareness.
