Four trapped in Kharghar elevator for 90 minutes, rescued

NAVI MUMBAI: Four young individuals found themselves trapped inside an elevator between the third and fourth floors of Tulip CHS in Sector 34B, Kharghar, for approximately 90 minutes starting from 3 am on Friday. The incident occurred due to a power outage in the residential area.

Emergency Response

The Kharghar fire brigade received the distress call at 4.25 am and promptly arrived at the society at 4.35 am. The team of firefighters swiftly initiated rescue operations to free the stranded individuals.

Rescue Operation

The trapped group consisted of two men and two women, all aged between 20 and 22. Firefighters managed to force open the elevator door from the outside using a crowbar and a battery-operated spreader tool. The entire rescue process took less than five minutes.

Prashant Darekar, a leading fireman at Kharghar, stated, "It took us less than 5 minutes to rescue the trapped youngsters. While one woman was a tenant in the building, the other three were her friends who had come to drop her home after they returned from a night out."

The swift action by the fire brigade ensured the safety of all four individuals, who were unharmed and relieved after the ordeal. Residents of the area have been advised to ensure emergency preparedness during power outages.
