In a significant breakthrough, police in Ludhiana have arrested four individuals in connection with the brazen daylight execution of a notorious fugitive, exposing a brutal power struggle for local underworld dominance. The Fatal Ambush in Jamalpur Park
Pardeep Kumar, a 20-year-old known by the alias "Billa," was discovered dead on January 21 in a public park located in the Jamalpur area. Investigators report that a single bullet penetrated his temple, resulting in instantaneous death. Despite being armed with an illegal pistol concealed in his waistband at the time, police noted that Billa was ambushed with such swiftness that he had no opportunity to defend himself, highlighting the calculated nature of the attack.
Arrests and Underlying Motive
Sub-inspector Dalvir Singh, the station house officer at Jamalpur, confirmed that four suspects are now in custody following a targeted investigation. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sahil Rajput, Ajay Goswami, Faiji, and Hemant Misra. Authorities are actively pursuing two additional suspects who remain at large, with ongoing police raids aimed at their apprehension.
The motive behind the killing, as revealed by investigators, was purely territorial. Both the victim and the accused possessed extensive criminal records and were engaged in a fierce competition for control over the Jamalpur neighborhood. "Supremacy is the reason," stated SI Dalvir Singh. "The accused are from the same area and have been involved in criminal activities in the past. They did not want Billa to dominate the area; to maintain their own influence, they eliminated him." The four arrested men have been remanded in police custody for further interrogation to uncover additional details and potential accomplices.
Victim's Violent Criminal History
At the time of his death, Billa was one of the area's most wanted fugitives, with at least seven First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against him. He had been evading authorities since October 2015 following an attempted murder case. In that incident, Billa and an accomplice named Vikas allegedly opened fire during a dispute with a local laborer named Asgar. The confrontation originated from a disagreement with Asgar's friend, Om; when the groups convened to "resolve the matter," Billa reportedly drew a weapon and shot Asgar, who survived the attack. Authorities believe that the assailants had been meticulously tracking Billa's movements for weeks before seizing the opportune moment to strike in the park, demonstrating premeditated intent.
This case highlights the persistent issues of gang violence and territorial disputes in urban areas, prompting calls for enhanced law enforcement measures to curb such criminal activities and ensure public safety.
