The arrests were made on Sunday and Monday, marking a crucial step in dismantling an organized criminal gang.

Details of the Arrests and Police Action

The City Kotwali police executed the arrests across various locations in Bijnor. Arjun Karnwal was apprehended from Bulla Ka Chauraha, Shubham Kujar from Chamarpeḍa locality, Shabiuddin from Acharzan mohalla, and Gola alias Akash Kumar. Following their capture, the accused were produced in court on Monday and subsequently remanded to jail.

These individuals were previously implicated under the Gangster Act, which targets organized crime syndicates. Police investigations reveal that the gang, led by alleged leader Sarthak, also known as Ricky Chaudhary, has a documented history of kidnapping and extortion activities, as outlined in an official gang chart.

Background of the Criminal Gang and Past Offenses

According to Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jha, the accused had been arrested earlier in connection with various criminal cases and were out on bail when they committed the kidnappings. This highlights a pattern of recidivism and the gang's persistent involvement in serious crimes.

The gang operated as a well-organized unit, specializing in abduction and ransom demands. Their modus operandi involved luring victims under false pretenses, as seen in the cases of Mushtaq Khan and Sunil Pal.

Timeline of the Kidnapping Incidents

On November 20, 2024, the gang allegedly deceived Bollywood actor Mushtaq Khan into attending an event, abducted him from Delhi, and transported him to Bijnor. He was held captive and coerced into paying a ransom of Rs 2.20 lakh for his release.

Subsequently, on December 2, 2024, comedian Sunil Pal fell victim to a similar scheme. He was kidnapped, and the gang extorted Rs 8 lakh from him before he was freed. These incidents underscore the gang's brazen tactics and the escalating nature of their crimes.

Ongoing Investigation and Future Steps

Police authorities have confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused, including the alleged gang leader Sarthak. The arrests of the four individuals are part of a broader crackdown on organized crime in the region, with law enforcement committed to ensuring justice for the victims.
