Man Booked for Using Forged Lokesh Letter to Secure VIP Darshan at Tirumala
In a startling incident at the revered Tirumala temple, police have registered a case against a man for allegedly attempting to obtain VIP break darshan tickets using a forged recommendation letter purportedly from IT Minister Nara Lokesh. The accused, identified as Laddika Lakshmi Venkata Nagesh (52), a resident of Madhura Nagar in Vijayawada, is now under investigation for his audacious act.
Incident Unfolds During Routine Verification
The incident occurred on Wednesday when Nagesh approached the additional executive office (AEO) at Tirumala and submitted the letter, claiming it was issued by the minister. During a routine verification process, the AEO superintendent, Tulasi, noticed glaring discrepancies in the document and immediately suspected it to be fake. This prompted swift action, with the matter being brought to the attention of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) vigilance and security wing without delay.
Legal Action Initiated Under BNS Act
Following a formal complaint lodged by TTD's vigilance inspector, the Tirumala II town police registered a case under sections 318 (4), 336 (3), and 340 (2) of the BNS Act, which pertain to cheating and the use of forged documents. This legal step underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating such fraudulent attempts to bypass temple protocols.
Investigation Reveals WhatsApp Connection
During the preliminary enquiry, Nagesh reportedly told officials that the forged letter was forwarded to him on WhatsApp by his nephew, who in turn received it from one of his friends. Police have stated that this claim is currently being verified as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials are now intensifying their efforts to trace the origin of the forged document and to ascertain whether others were involved in its preparation or circulation.
TTD Issues Stern Warning
In response to this incident, TTD officials have reiterated their firm stance against any attempts to mislead temple authorities. They emphasized that using fake recommendation letters to obtain special darshan privileges will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the provisions of the law. This serves as a clear warning to potential offenders, highlighting the temple's commitment to maintaining integrity and fairness in its darshan procedures.
The case has drawn significant attention, raising concerns about the misuse of digital platforms for fraudulent activities at religious sites. As the investigation progresses, authorities are determined to uncover the full extent of this scheme and ensure that justice is served.
