Patna High Court Justice Announces Forbesganj Judicial Court Opening in May 2026

In a significant development for judicial infrastructure in Bihar, Patna High Court Justice Sandip Kumar, who serves as the Inspecting Justice of the Araria Judicial Division, made a crucial announcement during a felicitation event held in his honor. The gathering, organized by the Araria Bar and Advocate Association, saw Justice Kumar reveal that the long-awaited Forbesganj Judicial Court under the Araria judgeship is likely to commence functioning from the second week of May 2026, provided all plans proceed smoothly.

Inauguration of New Record Room Marks Milestone

During his visit to Araria, Justice Kumar inaugurated a newly constructed record room designed for the safe preservation of disposed cases and other critical judicial records. This facility addresses a longstanding issue, as previously such records were stored at the Araria Collectorate, causing considerable inconvenience for legal professionals and litigants alike. Notably, the Araria Judgeship was established in 2014, but the dedicated record room has only been completed after a delay of over a decade, highlighting the challenges in judicial infrastructure development.

Focus on Reducing Case Pendency and Supporting Litigants

Justice Kumar emphasized the urgent need to reduce the growing pendency of cases in the judicial system. He urged advocates to attend to matters with diligence and commitment, particularly in cases involving litigants who travel from distant areas, ensuring their access to justice is not hindered. In a compassionate gesture, Justice Kumar also distributed wheelchairs to needy litigants within the court campus, underscoring the judiciary's role in supporting vulnerable individuals.

Bar Association Welcomes Justice Kumar

On behalf of the Araria Bar and Advocate Association, president Ashok Kumar Pandey and secretary Kamakhya Prasad Yadav extended a warm welcome to Justice Kumar during the felicitation meet. The event served as a platform for dialogue and recognition of the judiciary's efforts to improve legal services in the region.

This announcement and the associated initiatives reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen judicial infrastructure in Bihar, with the Forbesganj Judicial Court poised to become a key facility for delivering justice in the area starting in 2026.
