Five Friends Arrested for Murder After Drunken Argument in Navi Mumbai
In a shocking incident in Navi Mumbai, all five accused have been arrested for the brutal murder of their 29-year-old friend in the Digha area. The crime occurred after a drunken argument escalated into fatal violence, with the key accused allegedly smashing the victim's head with a large stone.
Details of the Tragic Incident
The incident took place on April 12 around 2:30 AM. According to police reports, the five assailants fled the scene, leaving the victim injured and unconscious. The injured man was later identified as Sonraj Shinde, a local resident of the area.
Sunil Waghmare, senior inspector of the Rabale MIDC police station, provided crucial details about the investigation and subsequent arrests. "We had initially arrested two accused identified as Vaibhav More and Mahindra Narayankar on Monday," Waghmare stated. "The other three absconding accused were traced and arrested from the Kalyan area on Tuesday. The other two aides are Kunal Rathod and Akash Lad."
Background of the Dispute
Investigations revealed that the conflict between Shinde and the key accused, Kunal Chaudhary, stemmed from a property-related dispute. Shinde had recently built a new house and erected a ladder outside that was obstructing Chaudhary's pathway. This seemingly minor issue simmered until it erupted into violence.
Chaudhary allegedly planned the attack under the pretext of throwing a liquor party. He invited Shinde and his four friends to a hilly area towards the east side of Ilthanpada. During the drinking session, Chaudhary deliberately picked a quarrel with Shinde, and as premeditated, all five accused launched a fatal assault on their friend.
Police Investigation and Arrests
The police investigation moved swiftly following the discovery of the crime. The initial arrests of two suspects on Monday provided leads that helped track down the remaining three accused who had fled to Kalyan. All five individuals are now in custody facing serious charges related to the murder.
