FIR Against Three for Paragliding Ban Violation at Billing

An FIR has been registered against three individuals for violating paragliding restrictions at Billing, the renowned take-off site in Kangra district. The incident involved a dispute over unauthorized flying during adverse weather conditions.

Complaint and Allegations

Vinay Kumar, a 49-year-old resident of Bir, filed a complaint stating that despite the closure of the flying window at 7:29 am on Saturday due to deteriorating weather, some tandem paragliding pilots continued operations. He alleged that around 8:45 am, three persons entered his shop, abused him, and threatened him over his objections to the unauthorized flights.

Administrative Response

Baijnath SDM Sankalp Gautam reiterated that flying is strictly prohibited during unsafe weather to ensure safety. Past fatal accidents have prompted stricter enforcement. This year, police and the Tourism Department have intensified monitoring, but these measures have faced resistance from some pilots.
