FIR Against Police Constables in Viral Pistol Dance Case

In a shocking incident that has raised serious questions about police discipline, Bettiah police have registered a formal case against three individuals, including two police constables, after a video showing a woman dancer brandishing a pistol went viral across West Champaran district.

The Viral Video That Sparked Investigation

The controversy erupted when a video surfaced on social media platforms on Thursday, showing a woman dancer waving a pistol while performing at a celebration. The footage quickly gained traction, drawing the attention of both the public and police authorities.

Bettiah SDPO Vivek Deep confirmed that police took immediate action upon discovering the viral content. "Taking the incident seriously, police launched an investigation," stated the senior police officer, highlighting the prompt response to the concerning footage.

Revelations From Police Probe

The subsequent police investigation uncovered disturbing details about the context of the video. According to official statements, the video was recorded in Rampur Bairagi village under the Mufussil police station jurisdiction.

The incident occurred during a child's "chhathihar" celebration - a traditional event held on the sixth day after a baby's birth - on the night of November 26. The investigation revealed that the two accused constables had attended the celebration at the house of Munna Chaudhary, who happens to be a relative of one of the constables.

The accused have been identified as Amit Chaudhary, a constable posted at the Kuchaykot police station in Gopalganj district; Anmol Tiwari, a constable posted in the fire department at the same police station; and Munna Chaudhary, the civilian host of the event.

Legal Action and Potential Consequences

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections related to the misuse of government arms and other relevant provisions of the Arms Act. The preliminary investigation suggests that the pistol brandished by the dancer may have been an official government weapon, adding gravity to the offense.

SDPO Vivek Deep emphasized the seriousness with which authorities are treating the matter. "Police are trying to arrest the accused. If the allegation of brandishing a govt pistol is proven true, departmental action will be initiated against both constables," he warned.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about the handling of official weapons by law enforcement personnel and the conduct of police officers during off-duty hours. The incident has sparked discussions about police accountability and the need for stricter protocols regarding government-issued firearms.
