Father of Deceased Demands CBI Investigation Over Son's Killing in Delhi Holi Clash

The father of 25-year-old Tarun, who tragically lost his life in a brutal attack during Holi celebrations in Delhi, has publicly demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the incident. Speaking to ANI on Saturday, the grieving father expressed deep frustration with the local police's handling of the case, alleging a lack of proper inquiry and transparency.

Allegations of Police Inaction and Lack of Transparency

The family has accused the Delhi Police of failing to share crucial details about the arrests made so far and not conducting a thorough investigation into the fatal altercation. "We demand that our son should get justice," the father stated. "The police have not conducted any inquiry or asked us about him. They are saying that they have arrested 5-6 people, but they did not show us who they have arrested. We want a CBI inquiry."

He further described distressing encounters with law enforcement, claiming that when the family visited the police station, officers closed the doors on them. Subsequently, when they took to the streets to protest, police resorted to a lathicharge. "As soon as my son came, 15-20 people attacked him and killed him on the spot. All of them were roaming here, but the police did not arrest anyone," he added, highlighting perceived negligence.

Incident Details and Police Response

The tragic incident occurred on March 4 in Delhi's Uttam Nagar area, where a dispute during Holi celebrations escalated into a violent clash between neighbors from different communities. Tarun sustained severe injuries in the fight and was undergoing treatment before succumbing to his wounds. In response, Delhi Police have confirmed that four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, with investigations ongoing.

To prevent further tension and maintain law and order, security has been significantly tightened in Uttam Nagar. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Kushal Pal Singh of the Dwarka district outlined the measures implemented: "In view of the incident that happened on 4th March, we have made adequate security arrangements. We have divided the area into zones, sectors, and sub-sectors. Our motorcycles and vehicles are continuously patrolling."

Community Engagement and Appeals for Calm

DCP Singh emphasized efforts to engage with residents from both communities to ensure peace in the locality. "We have also called people of both communities and appealed to them to maintain peace and order in the area. Apart from this, we also appeal to the people not to pay attention to rumours and not to support those who create trouble," he said. These steps aim to de-escalate tensions and foster a sense of security among residents following the violent episode.

The case has drawn attention to issues of police accountability and community safety in urban areas, with the family's call for a CBI probe underscoring their quest for justice amidst allegations of mishandling. As investigations proceed, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any recurrence of violence.
