A tragic road accident in the heart of the capital has resulted in one fatality and left another person injured. The incident, involving a scooter, occurred in the early hours of Tuesday near the iconic India Gate.
Details of the Tragic Incident
According to the Delhi Police, they received a PCR call around 2 am on December 16, alerting them about an accident near Khandala Market on Pandara Road. Upon reaching the scene, authorities found a damaged scooter and two victims. One of the individuals, a 25-year-old man, was rushed to the hospital but was declared 'brought dead' by medical personnel. The second victim was admitted and is currently undergoing treatment for their injuries.
Investigation Faces Hurdles
The police investigation has hit a significant roadblock as no eyewitnesses could be traced. Officials stated that they were unable to find anyone who saw the accident happen, either at the hospital or at the accident site itself. This lack of direct witnesses complicates the process of determining the exact sequence of events that led to the crash.
Scooter Ownership and Ongoing Probe
Police recovered the damaged scooter from the scene. An examination of the vehicle's ownership records revealed it was registered in the name of a woman who resides in CR Park in south Delhi. When questioned, the registered owner informed the police that at the time of the incident, the scooter was being driven by a man named Nitin. Authorities are now working to establish the full circumstances of the accident, and a further investigation is underway to piece together the final moments before the collision.
