A shocking incident of public assault and humiliation has come to light in East Delhi, where a man and his son were allegedly beaten, stripped, and a woman was molested following a dispute over the ownership of a gym operating from their house's basement. The violent episode, captured on video, occurred in the Laxmi Nagar area and has sparked widespread outrage after the footage circulated on social media.
The Violent Attack and Public Humiliation
According to the police complaint filed on Monday, the dispute centered around a gym run from the basement of the family's residence. The family had employed a man named Satish alias Pintoo Yadav as the gym's caretaker. However, the situation escalated when Yadav allegedly began claiming ownership of the facility. "He took over the gym, claiming that we had given him ownership. We never transferred ownership and have all the relevant documents," the woman stated in the FIR, adding that Yadav would often threaten them when asked to vacate.
The violence erupted on January 2. The man and his wife went to the basement to check a water leakage issue. It was then that Satish Yadav, accompanied by his friends, arrived and launched a brutal attack on the husband. Disturbing CCTV footage from the vicinity captured the assault.
"When I intervened, they thrashed me, pulled my hair and hit me, causing me to fall. One of them also touched me inappropriately," the woman alleged. The attackers then dragged her husband into the gym's basement, where they stripped him naked and beat him severely.
Son Dragged Out and Assaulted on Road
Hearing the commotion, the couple's son rushed to help his parents. In a further act of brutality, Yadav and his associates allegedly dragged the young man out of the house and onto the street. A widely shared video clip shows four to five men pulling him outside as another woman inside tries to rescue him.
The assailants then stripped the son of his pants on the road and proceeded to punch, slap, and kick him. In a deeply humiliating act, they also thrashed him with a shoe on his face. The video shows two police personnel arriving later and returning his pants to him. Another clip shows the accused getting out of a Thar vehicle and assaulting the man and his wife.
Family Traumatised, Accused Arrested
The family has been left severely traumatised by the incident. "My family is in terrible condition. My son has been humiliated in public, and I want justice," the mother said. The father, bearing visible bruises and swelling on his face, added a poignant detail: "My son's wedding is scheduled in 10 days. We were supposed to be happy, but look at what has happened to us."
Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Abhishek Dhania confirmed that an investigation is underway. "We are verifying the claims made by both parties. One of the attackers, identified as Satish Yadav, has been arrested, while the others will be nabbed soon," he stated. The police are actively pursuing the other individuals involved in the attack based on the FIR and video evidence.
The incident highlights severe law and order concerns in the capital and has raised questions about public safety and the swift delivery of justice for victims of such heinous crimes.
