Man Impersonating IAS Officer Exposed in Saran District After Failing DM's Questions
In a startling incident in Saran district, a man posing as a senior IAS officer was caught after his deception unraveled during a meeting with district officials. The imposter, identified as Ritesh Kumar, had managed to meet with high-ranking officers before his true identity was revealed.
The Bold Deception Unfolds
According to police officials, Ritesh Kumar visited the office of SSP Vineet Kumar on Monday, introducing himself as an IAS officer posted in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. He even presented a bouquet to the SSP during their meeting, displaying remarkable confidence in his fraudulent role. Emboldened by this initial encounter, Ritesh proceeded to meet Saran District Magistrate Vaibhava Srivastava.
The Suspicion and Exposure
The meeting with the DM began with casual conversation on general topics, but suspicion quickly arose when Ritesh failed to answer basic questions about administrative work and public services. Recognizing the inconsistencies in his responses, DM Srivastava immediately called for Saran ASP Ram Pukar Singh to investigate the imposter's background.
The investigation revealed:
- Ritesh Kumar's claims of being an IAS officer were completely false
- He is actually a resident of Basadhi village in the Mufassil police station area
- His father was identified as Krishna Pandit
Family Claims and Police Investigation
After Ritesh's arrest, his family made several claims to authorities:
- They stated he was preparing for the UPSC examination
- They claimed he had an obsession with meeting government officials
- They alleged he was mentally unstable
However, the family failed to provide any medical documentation to support their claims of mental illness, according to police statements.
Ongoing Police Investigation
The police have registered a formal case against Ritesh Kumar and are conducting a thorough investigation. Sanjeev Kumar, SHO of Town police station, stated, "We are interrogating him and investigating his past records, contacts, and activities to determine if he committed any other crime."
Key aspects of the investigation include:
- Determining whether Ritesh used his fake identity to cheat anyone
- Examining his past activities and contacts
- Verifying the family's claims about his mental state
- Investigating any potential accomplices or broader deception network
The incident has raised questions about security protocols in government offices and the ease with which an imposter could access senior officials. Authorities are reviewing procedures to prevent similar occurrences in the future while the legal process against Ritesh Kumar continues.
