Explosion Rocks Former SP MLA's Residence in Farrukhabad

In a dramatic incident, Farrukhabad police registered a case on Wednesday against two sons of former Samajwadi Party MLA Vijay Singh following an explosion that occurred in the basement of his residence on Tuesday night. The blast injured multiple individuals, including family members and associates, raising serious questions about the circumstances surrounding the event.

Injured Parties and Police Response

Police officials confirmed that among those injured in the explosion were Vijay Singh's two sons, Abhishek Singh and Avinash Singh, along with Ishu Chaurasiya, Ramveer Singh Yadav, Rashu Mishra, and Bhaiya Lal. When authorities arrived at the scene, they immediately detected the distinct smell of gunpowder, indicating the use of explosive materials.

Notably, Vijay Singh's wife, former Palika Adhyaksh Damyanti Singh, and the other injured individuals have not disclosed the cause of the explosion to investigators. This lack of cooperation has complicated the initial stages of the inquiry.

Official Investigation Underway

In-charge of Ghoda Nakhash Chowki, Imran Fareed, filed a First Information Report (FIR) against all the injured persons. On Wednesday morning, a specialized bomb disposal squad arrived at the residence to begin a thorough examination of the premises. The district magistrate and superintendent of police also visited the site to assess the situation firsthand.

Adding to the investigative efforts, an anti-terrorist squad from Kanpur reached the location to assist local authorities. DIG Harish Chandar provided updates, stating, "An ATS team has arrived from Kanpur. Samples have been collected for forensic examination." He further mentioned that the forensic team had been called back for additional analysis.

Key Developments and Sealing of Property

DIG Harish Chandar emphasized that the house has been sealed by police as part of the investigation. "It is certain that the explosion occurred from inside the house. We have also obtained CCTV footage," he stated. He highlighted that those injured in the blast neither informed the police nor utilized the emergency dial 112 service, and they continue to withhold cooperation from investigators.

"Further action will be taken as soon as the team's report comes in," Chandar added, indicating that the case remains active with pending forensic results.

Background on Vijay Singh

Vijay Singh, the former MLA from the Samajwadi Party, is currently serving a life sentence in connection with the murder of former energy minister Brahm Dutt Dwivedi. This historical context adds a layer of complexity to the current investigation, though authorities have not yet linked the explosion to his prior legal issues.

The incident has drawn significant attention from law enforcement agencies, with multiple teams working to determine the exact cause and intent behind the explosion. As the investigation progresses, more details are expected to emerge regarding the events leading up to the blast and the involvement of those injured.
