Former National Weightlifter Arrested in Surat Cyber Fraud Case
In a surprising turn of events, a 39-year-old former national-level weightlifter has been apprehended by police in Surat in connection with a cyber fraud case involving Rs 70,000. The accused, identified as Bodu Paleja, is currently employed as a contractual TB supervisor at the Taluka Health Centre in Junagadh.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Bishakha Jain, the fraud stemmed from a Surat-based victim who lost Rs 70,000 after downloading an APK file linked to a fake RTO challan. This malicious file facilitated the unauthorized transfer of funds, which were then allegedly misused by Paleja.
Police investigations revealed that Paleja holds two credit cards—one from Bank of Baroda and another from ICICI Bank. It is alleged that he used the defrauded amount to clear outstanding dues on these credit cards, directly linking the stolen money to his personal financial obligations.
Background of the Accused
Bodu Paleja has a notable athletic past, having represented India in a weightlifting championship at the young age of 16. Despite this early achievement, his career took a different path. Currently, he works as a TB supervisor at the health centre in Junagadh and has also undertaken part-time employment with a private finance company, adding a layer of complexity to his professional profile.
