A car belonging to former vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar's convoy sustained damage in a highway accident on Sunday morning. The incident occurred on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway near Nuh in Gurgaon district.
Chain Collision Triggers on Busy Highway
Police officials reported that a truck moving ahead on NH8 suddenly applied brakes. This abrupt action triggered a chain collision involving multiple vehicles.
Sequence of Events in Early Morning Crash
The accident happened around 7:30 am near Rithath village in Nagina block. The convoy was traveling from Delhi towards Jaipur when the truck braked unexpectedly.
A WagonR car following the truck rammed into it from behind. Immediately after, an Ertiga vehicle that was part of the former vice president's escort also collided with the vehicles ahead.
Another passing vehicle got caught in the crash as well. The impact caused significant damage to the front ends of both the convoy car and the WagonR.
Severe Vehicle Damage but No Injuries
While the convoy vehicle's bonnet was completely crushed, the WagonR suffered even worse damage. Its engine became dislodged during the collision, leaving the car badly mangled.
Police confirmed that all officials, security personnel, and drivers traveling in the convoy remained safe throughout the incident. No injuries were reported from any party involved in the accident.
Police Response and Investigation
Pinangwan police reached the accident spot shortly after receiving information about the crash. Officers quickly regulated traffic on the busy highway stretch to prevent further incidents.
The damaged vehicles were moved to the roadside, allowing normal traffic flow to resume. Police spokesperson Krishna Kumar provided details about the ongoing investigation.
Truck Driver Flees Accident Scene
Kumar revealed that the truck driver abandoned his vehicle and fled the spot immediately after the accident. Police are actively working to trace the missing driver.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area to establish the exact sequence of events. This footage will help determine what caused the truck to brake suddenly and trigger the chain reaction.
The police continue their efforts to locate the truck driver while analyzing all available evidence from the highway collision.
