Tragic Accident Claims Life of Elderly Woman in Dharmapuri

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Dharmapuri district on Monday, resulting in the death of an 80-year-old woman. The victim, identified as C Kannammal from Paiyarnatham village, accidentally fell into a well and drowned.

Details of the Fatal Fall

The accident occurred near Bommidi in the Pappireddipatti taluk. On Monday morning, Kannammal was walking near a neighbour's well when she tragically slipped and fell into it. Neighbours who witnessed the fall immediately rushed to the spot in an attempt to rescue her.

Despite their swift response, the outcome was devastating. A police officer from the Bommidi station reported that by the time they could pull Kannammal out of the well, she had already died after struggling in the water for several minutes.

Aftermath and Police Investigation

Upon being alerted, police personnel secured the body and sent it to the Pappireddipatty Government Hospital for a postmortem examination. The authorities have registered a case regarding the incident as part of standard procedure.

Kannammal is survived by her 85-year-old husband, Chinnaswamy, and her children, Rajagopal and Indirani. The sudden loss has left the family and the local community in Paiyarnatham village in a state of profound grief.
