PhD Scholar & NET Aspirant Arrested for Shooting Cab Driver in Rewari
Educated Carjackers Shoot Driver, Then Call to Check on Him

In a shocking incident that blurs the lines between crime and bizarre human behavior, two highly educated individuals—a PhD scholar and a UGC-NET aspirant—were arrested for violently carjacking and shooting a cab driver in Rewari. The twist came when the assailants dialed the victim's number to ask about his condition, a call that ultimately led police straight to them.

The Violent Robbery on Monday Night

The sequence of events unfolded on Monday night when cab driver Sanjay Kumar, operating between New Delhi and Jaipur, picked up the two suspects, Divyanshu and Shubham, from the Old Delhi railway station. As the vehicle neared Rewari, the passengers requested a stop, pretending they needed a bathroom break. It was during this halt that the situation turned violent.

The two men took out a weapon and held it to Sanjay's head. When the driver resisted their attempt to rob him, one of the accused shot him in the thighs. The other suspect then took control of the wheel and drove around Rewari city with the injured Sanjay still in the vehicle.

The Bizarre Phone Call That Sealed Their Fate

After driving for some time, Sanjay pleaded with the carjackers to drop him off so he could seek medical treatment. They eventually abandoned him near a hospital and fled with his cash. While Sanjay was receiving treatment for his gunshot wounds, his phone rang. In an almost unbelievable turn of events, it was the suspects themselves calling to inquire about his well-being.

This call proved to be their undoing. The Rewari police, who were already on high alert regarding the crime, used the signal from this call to track and pinpoint the duo's location in Rajasthan. The callous act of checking on their victim became the direct lead that resulted in their swift capture.

Police Investigation and Recoveries

Following the arrest, police conducted a search and made significant recoveries from the possession of Divyanshu and Shubham. The seized items included:

  • Country-made firearms
  • Ammunition
  • One portable jammer device
  • Four SIM cards

The police are now intensifying their investigation to uncover the source of these weapons and understand the full motive behind the crime committed by two individuals from an educated background. The case highlights a disturbing trend where academic qualifications do not necessarily correlate with lawful conduct, leaving authorities and the public alike searching for answers.
