Drunk Motorcyclist in Mumbai Runs Over Traffic Cop's Foot, Damages Breathalyzer
In a shocking incident of reckless driving, the Andheri police in Mumbai have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a 41-year-old motorcyclist who was found to be heavily inebriated. The individual not only rode his two-wheeler over a traffic constable's foot but also caused significant damage to a breathalyzer device during a routine traffic check.
Late-Night Traffic Check Turns Violent
The alarming event unfolded in the early hours of Sunday on the busy Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road. Traffic police officers from the Sahar Traffic division were conducting standard checks at Satamwadi Junction to ensure road safety. Around 1:15 AM, constable Pritam Omase signaled a biker to stop for inspection.
Instead of complying, the motorcyclist attempted to flee the scene. In his desperate bid to escape, he recklessly rode his bike over Constable Omase's foot, resulting in immediate injury. The chaos did not end there; the handle of the motorcycle brushed against Omase's hand, causing the breathalyzer he was holding to fall to the ground and sustain damage.
Arrest and Legal Action Follow Drunk Driving Confirmation
Police personnel swiftly took the motorcyclist, identified as VP Singh, into custody. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for a mandatory blood-alcohol test to determine his level of intoxication. The test report conclusively confirmed that Singh had been driving under the influence of alcohol, validating the officers' suspicions.
Following the medical confirmation, VP Singh was escorted to the Andheri Police Station where formal legal proceedings were initiated. An FIR was officially registered against him, marking a serious step in addressing the incident. This case highlights the severe consequences of drunk driving, not only endangering lives but also leading to direct harm against law enforcement officials and public property.
