Dharwad Police Make Swift Arrest in Paramedic Murder Case

In a rapid response to a brutal crime, the Dharwad police in Karnataka have arrested a 22-year-old man within just 12 hours of the murder of a 20-year-old paramedical graduate. The victim's body was discovered in an agricultural field on the outskirts of Dharwad on Wednesday, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Timeline of the Tragic Incident

The police investigation has pieced together a chilling sequence of events. The woman left her home on Tuesday evening, informing her family that she was heading to a lab. However, she never returned, and her mobile phone was switched off, leaving her family in distress as their attempts to locate her proved futile.

According to authorities, the accused, a driver who had been in a four-year relationship with the victim, called her on Tuesday evening and picked her up around 5:15 PM. Around 7:30 PM, an argument erupted inside the man's car. The police stated that the man, driven by suspicion and frustration over their relationship, attacked and fatally stabbed the woman in a fit of rage.

Deceptive Actions and Police Investigation

After committing the murder, the accused reportedly drove around with the victim's body before dumping it in the field in the early hours of Wednesday. In a disturbing attempt to mislead the family, he allegedly accessed the woman's mobile phone and sent messages to her father and himself. The messages read, "Main marne ko jaa rahi hoon, mujhe bacha lo (I am going to die, please save me)", creating a false impression that she intended to die by suicide.

Gunjan Arya, Superintendent of Police in Dharwad, highlighted the efficiency of the police response. "Multiple police teams were deployed immediately after the woman's body was discovered near the Hubballi-Dharwad bypass road, leading to the quick identification and arrest of the accused," Arya said. The SP added that the accused was known to the victim, and authorities zeroed in on him using mobile tower locations, CCTV footage, and local intelligence.

Background and Motive

The victim had completed her paramedical course last year and was actively seeking employment. Police investigations revealed that while there had been discussions about marriage between the couple, no formal engagement had been fixed. Investigations suggest that the victim wanted to continue working and had expressed resistance to marriage, which made the accused suspect her of being involved with someone else, reportedly triggering the violent attack, a police officer explained.

Evidence and Legal Proceedings

The police have recovered the accused's car and mobile phones as part of the ongoing investigation. Several messages and location data from these devices played a crucial role in tracing the suspect. The victim's body has been sent for postmortem examination, and CCTV footage from nearby areas is being meticulously examined to reconstruct the events accurately.

A case has been registered under charges of murder and destruction of evidence, with further investigation underway to ensure justice is served. This incident underscores the importance of swift police action and the use of modern investigative techniques in solving heinous crimes.
