Amravati: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Dharni police seized over 5 kilograms of ganja valued at Rs99,000 and arrested one individual during a raid at Dubai Mohalla on Wednesday. The operation was carried out based on a tip-off, leading a team led by Police Inspector Avatarsing Chavan to search the residence of Khalil Ansari. During the search, officers discovered a box containing five packets. The packets held dried leaves, flowers, seeds, and stems emitting a strong odor, later confirmed to be ganja.

Intensified Drive Against Illegal Activities

The seizure was part of an intensified drive ordered by Superintendent of Police Niketan Kadam to combat illegal businesses and drug trafficking in the region. This initiative aims to curb the spread of narcotics and ensure public safety.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Dharni police station. Police Sub-Inspector Satish Jhalte is leading the investigation to uncover further links in the drug network. Revenue officials were also present during the raid to ensure procedural compliance and transparency.
