Delhi Police Rescue 3-Year-Old Girl, Uncover Trafficking Ring Before Nepal Sale
Police in Delhi made a shocking discovery while searching for a missing three-year-old girl. Their investigation uncovered a child trafficking operation. Officers managed to rescue the young victim and two other minor children. They also arrested three adults who were allegedly planning to sell the girl in Nepal.
Child Disappears Near Father's Shop
The incident began on the evening of January 12 in the Kashmere Gate area. The three-year-old girl went missing from Minarwa Cinema Road. Her father, Mujaffar Ali, had brought her to his shop after his wife passed away. The child was playing nearby around 6:30 PM when she disappeared.
Ali immediately reported his daughter missing. Police registered a kidnapping case and launched a full investigation. They started by examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
CCTV Footage Reveals Disturbing Chain of Events
The surveillance videos told a troubling story. Footage showed a minor girl leading the three-year-old victim toward Old Delhi Railway Station. Later footage from the station revealed even more disturbing details. The child was handed over to a group of adults. The group then moved into the crowded railway premises.
"Police teams conducted extensive searches across multiple railway stations," said DCP (North) Raja Banthia. "We checked Old Delhi, Subzi Mandi, Shahdara, and Sahibabad stations. Our investigators scanned footage from around 400 cameras installed in and around station premises and approach roads."
Breakthrough Leads to Rescue Operation
The investigation eventually produced a partial lead. It showed the suspects traveling in an e-rickshaw toward the Welcome area. Police followed this clue with local enquiries and surveillance. Their efforts paid off on January 17.
Officers located the kidnapped child near Hanuman Mandir in Yamuna Bazar. She was found in the custody of a family allegedly involved in organized begging. Police immediately took the girl into protective custody.
Three Adults Arrested, Two More Minors Rescued
Authorities arrested three adults connected to the case. They identified them as Nazeema (52), her husband Anis (52), and their son-in-law Shamshad Alam (26). All three were residents of Janta Mazdoor Colony in Welcome, Seelampur. They originally came from Kishanganj district in Bihar.
Police also took two more minor children into protective custody. These children, aged 7 and 10 years, were accompanying the arrested group.
Trafficking Plans Uncovered During Questioning
During police questioning, the accused admitted to kidnapping the three-year-old girl. They also confessed to changing their rented accommodation on the same night. Investigators uncovered even more alarming details.
The group allegedly planned to traffic the child to Nepal. Their intention was to sell her either to a begging network or through other illegal channels. This revelation highlighted the serious nature of the trafficking operation.
Happy Reunion for Father and Daughter
The rescued child was safely reunited with her father. This positive outcome came after days of intense police work and community concern. The case demonstrates how a single missing child report can uncover much larger criminal networks.
Delhi Police continue their investigation into the trafficking operation. They are working to determine if more children might be at risk or if additional suspects are involved.
