In a significant crackdown on the counterfeit drug trade, the Cyber Cell of the Delhi Police Crime Branch has raided an illegal printing press in the capital that was supplying fake packaging for spurious medicines. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals and marks a crucial step in dismantling a dangerous interstate racket.
The Raid and Arrests
Acting on intelligence, police conducted a raid at a printing press located on Rama Road in Delhi. During the operation, which took place in late December 2025, authorities apprehended two men identified as Anil Singh Rawat (46) and Rahul Agarwal (31), both residents of Delhi. The raid was a follow-up to an earlier bust of a network involved in manufacturing and selling fake Schedule-H drugs.
From the premises, investigators seized critical evidence, including two dye frames specifically used for printing boxes of a product called 'Skin Shine' ointment. These counterfeit packaging materials were allegedly supplied to individuals arrested in the earlier phase of the investigation.
Modus Operandi of the Network
Police revealed the intricate roles within the illicit operation. Investigators stated that Anil Singh Rawat was operating the clandestine printing unit. Meanwhile, Rahul Agarwal acted as a coordinator, responsible for placing orders for the fake packaging. Agarwal was reportedly taking directions from a co-accused named Shree Ram, who was arrested previously along with associates Gaurav Bhagat and Parmod Kumar Gupta.
The probe confirmed that the spurious medicines seized earlier were being packaged using wrappers and boxes designed to closely mimic genuine pharmaceutical brands, deceiving consumers and posing severe health risks.
Ongoing Investigation and Wider Net
The Delhi Police emphasized that this raid is not the conclusion of the case. Efforts are actively underway to trace other critical links in the supply chain. This includes identifying the sources of raw materials used for printing and tracking down the distributors who circulated the counterfeit packaging to drug manufacturers.
The overarching goal is to completely dismantle the entire network, from the production of fake labels to the sale of the finished spurious products. This operation highlights the ongoing battle against the menace of counterfeit pharmaceuticals in the country.
