Widespread Raids Across Multiple States
Approximately 9,000 police personnel from various units conducted coordinated raids between January 9 and 11. The operation spanned Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Officers targeted drug and liquor traffickers, criminal gang financiers, and arms suppliers to gangsters operating in the capital.
The operation, codenamed 'Gang Bust-2026', was led by Joint Commissioners Vijay Singh and Jatin Narwal along with Additional Commissioner CP Kushwah. Police focused on 4,299 gang hideouts, resulting in the registration of 690 First Information Reports under multiple laws.

Intensified Action Against Criminal Networks
Delhi Police announced they are intensifying their campaign against organized crime syndicates. Their strategy includes aggressive pursuits, property seizures, invoking the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, conducting trials in absentia, and seeking extradition of gang members based abroad.
Previous Anti-Crime Drive
This operation follows a previous four-month drive against organized crime in Delhi-NCR from September 1 to December 31, 2025. During that period, police killed seven gangsters and injured 21 others in shootouts.
Authorities arrested 183 criminals, including 34 under MCOCA and 149 in other cases. They extradited two fugitives and initiated trials in absentia for nine others.
Those raids targeted 539 houses and hideouts, yielding significant seizures. Police recovered 118 firearms, over 1 crore rupees in cash, 1.3 kilograms of gold, 14 kilograms of silver, eight cars, 11 motorcycles, 22 mobile phones, and a laptop. These actions significantly damaged the logistical and financial networks of criminal rackets.
