Early Monday morning, a dramatic police encounter unfolded in Pratapgarh, leading to the injury and arrest of a wanted criminal. The incident occurred near Barsanda village road, where law enforcement officers were conducting routine checks.

Suspect Opens Fire on Police Team

A joint team from Dehlupur police and the Special Weapons And Tactics unit noticed a suspicious biker during their patrol. Officers signaled the rider to stop, but he attempted to flee the scene. When police surrounded him, the suspect opened fire at the officers.

In retaliation, police returned fire and injured the criminal. The injured man was identified as Mohd Naushad Qureshi, a resident of Mauaima village in Prayagraj district. Qureshi has multiple criminal cases pending against him in the district.

Confession of Cow Slaughter

During interrogation, Qureshi made a shocking confession. He admitted that he and his accomplices slaughtered three cows after stealing them from Barsanda village on January 16th. The animals were taken illegally before being killed.

Three of Qureshi's accomplices managed to escape during the encounter. They used the local terrain to their advantage and vanished from the scene. Police are continuing their search for these fleeing individuals.

From Qureshi's possession, police recovered significant evidence. They found a country-made pistol of 0.315 bore along with ammunition. The recovery included two used cartridges, two unused cartridges, and a motorcycle.
