Horrific Attack on Sleeping Couple in Jaipur Fields

In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Rajasthan, a couple was brutally set on fire while sleeping in a field hut in Jaipur's outskirts. The Jaipur police have detained two individuals identified as Birdichand and Ganesh, who are relatives of the woman involved in the attack.

The horrific incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, November 30, 2025, in Bichoon village under Mokhampura police station limits, approximately an hour southwest of Jaipur city.

Detailed Account of the Nighttime Attack

According to the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Kailash Chand Gurjar, 36, he was sleeping in a makeshift hut constructed in agricultural fields to guard crops from animals. Gurjar stated in his police complaint that he was awake late at night, monitoring water supply to the crops and protecting them from wildlife.

Around midnight between 12:00 and 12:30 AM, a woman from their village, with whom Gurjar had been in a relationship, unexpectedly arrived at his hut. Gurjar revealed that while they had been involved romantically, family disputes had recently caused tension, leading him to avoid meeting her.

The situation turned violent when Birdichand and Ganesh from the woman's family suddenly appeared at the location. The accused allegedly poured petrol on both individuals and set them ablaze, according to the police complaint.

Medical Condition and Police Response

Gurjar managed to escape the burning hut and rushed to a water storage tub to douse the flames, with his family members arriving shortly to assist him. The woman remained near the hut area following the attack.

Both victims were initially taken to Bichoon hospital for emergency treatment but were subsequently referred to Jaipur for specialized care. They are currently admitted at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur.

Dr. R K Jain, senior professor at the Department of Burn and Plastic Surgery at SMS Hospital, confirmed that Gurjar has sustained 70% burns while the woman has suffered 45% burns.

Police authorities have revealed that Gurjar is married with children, while the woman involved is a widow. The FIR has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections including:

  • Attempt to murder
  • Voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means
  • Criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention

Mokhampura Station House Officer Suresh Kumar Gurjar confirmed the detention of both accused named in the FIR. Jaipur Rural SP Rashi Dogra Dudi stated that Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams have inspected the crime scene and collected evidence, with investigations actively ongoing.
