A Special Police Officer (SPO), his sister, and two other individuals lost their lives in two distinct road accidents that occurred in the Rajouri and Kishtwar districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, officials reported on Saturday.
Rajouri Accident: Head-On Collision Claims Two Lives
In Rajouri district, SPO Shubam Kumar and his sister Rainu Choudhary were traveling in a car when it collided head-on with a bus at Bagnoti along the Jammu-Poonch National Highway on Friday. The impact of the crash proved fatal for both siblings, according to officials.
Choudhary's husband, Rakesh Kumar, and daughter, Swati Choudhary, sustained serious injuries in the same incident. They are currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital, officials added.
Kishtwar Accident: Vehicle Plunges into Gorge
In a separate incident in Kishtwar district, a load carrier vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge at Gulabgarh on Friday. The accident resulted in the deaths of a man and his son.
The deceased were identified as Anurudh Singh and his son Deepak Kumar. Two other occupants of the vehicle, Sapoot Singh and Ravinder Singh, were injured and have been admitted to a hospital for treatment, officials confirmed.

These back-to-back accidents highlight the perilous road conditions in the region, particularly on the Jammu-Poonch National Highway and in the hilly terrain of Kishtwar. Authorities have not yet commented on the exact causes of the accidents, but investigations are underway.
