Sequence of Events Leading to Fatal Assault

According to police investigations, the incident began around 10:30 PM when Achu got into an argument with another person inside the bar. As the man attempted to apologize by holding Achu's leg, Suman intervened in an effort to defuse the tense situation.

During the ensuing scuffle, Achu was reportedly hit in the face, after which Suman was assaulted and forced to flee the bar premises. Police said Achu then called his brother Ananthu, and the duo chased Suman onto the road.

Brutal Roadside Attack Captured on Video

The brothers pushed Suman down and repeatedly kicked and punched him on the head and chest in a brutal assault that was filmed by bystanders. Visual evidence shows the accused choking Suman, stamping on his face, and continuing the violent attack even as he lay motionless on the ground.

Witnesses who attempted to intervene were threatened and allegedly pepper-sprayed by the accused, forcing them to back off from the horrific scene. The attackers fled immediately after the assault.

Medical Response and Fatal Injuries

A passerby from Chovvara alerted the police, who rushed Suman to the Vizhinjam Community Health Centre where he was declared dead. The body was later shifted to the medical college mortuary for postmortem examination.

Police officials revealed that the postmortem report showed multiple internal fractures leading to severe internal bleeding. Vital organs including the lungs and spine were critically injured in the attack, resulting in his death. External injuries were also noted on his face and head.

Legal Proceedings and Investigation Details

By noon on Thursday, police formally recorded the arrests of Achu and Ananthu, who were later produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. Two other individuals detained in connection with the case were released as they were not directly involved in the assault.

The body was handed over to relatives after completion of the postmortem procedures. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this violent incident that has shocked the local community.
