Coimbatore Gym Trainer Faces Legal Action After Threatening Female Member
The Saravanampatti police in Coimbatore took swift action on Friday. They registered a formal case against a local gym trainer. The trainer stands accused of threatening a woman who frequented his fitness center.
Accused Identified and Background Details
Police officials named the accused as Leeladharan. He is 37 years old and resides in Sivanandapuram. Leeladharan operates a gym within the same neighborhood. He developed a friendship with a female member at his establishment. During their interactions, they took photographs together.
The situation escalated when Leeladharan extended an invitation to the woman. He asked her to visit his private residence. The woman firmly declined this invitation. Her refusal angered Leeladharan profoundly.
Threats and Initial Harassment
In response to her rejection, Leeladharan resorted to intimidation. He threatened to publish their joint photographs on various social media platforms. His condition was simple: she must comply with his demands. The woman felt alarmed by these threats.
She promptly informed her husband about the entire ordeal. The husband then contacted Leeladharan directly. He requested the gym trainer to cease bothering his wife immediately. However, Leeladharan ignored this plea completely.
He continued his campaign of harassment against the woman. This persistent behavior forced the husband to take further steps. Accompanied by a relative, he visited Leeladharan at his home. They issued a stern warning, asking him to stop disturbing the wife.
Confrontation Turns Violent
Leeladharan reacted with hostility during this meeting. He verbally abused the woman's husband without restraint. The confrontation turned physical when Leeladharan assaulted the husband. He repeated his threat to post the photographs online.
This violent response enraged the husband beyond measure. He returned with a group of friends to Leeladharan's residence. Together, they assaulted the gym trainer on his own property. The group then forcibly transported Leeladharan to a secluded location.
They took him near the Chinnavedampatti pond area. At this isolated spot, the men thrashed Leeladharan once again. They also issued threats against him during this assault.
Rescue and Medical Treatment
Leeladharan's brother, Ganesh, played a crucial role next. He rescued Leeladharan from the attackers' custody. Ganesh immediately rushed his injured brother to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital. Medical professionals admitted Leeladharan for necessary treatment.
Police Complaints and Legal Charges
The woman's husband did not stop at physical retaliation. He approached the Saravanampatti police station formally. He lodged an official complaint against Leeladharan's actions. Police officers registered a case based on this complaint.
They charged Leeladharan under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act. Authorities also applied other relevant sections from the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These charges address his threatening behavior and harassment.
Leeladharan did not remain silent either. He filed his own police complaint against the woman's husband and friends. This counter complaint accuses them of assaulting him violently. Police have booked the husband and his associates based on these allegations.
Investigations continue actively in both matters. Law enforcement officials are gathering additional evidence and statements. The cases remain open as police work to determine complete facts and appropriate legal outcomes.
