CISF Officer's Wedding Rage Ends in Teen's Tragic Death

In a shocking incident that has left a family devastated, Delhi Police has arrested a CISF head constable for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old boy during a wedding procession in Shahdara's Mansarovar Park area on Saturday evening. The victim, whose family had migrated from Jharkhand as labourers, lost his life in what began as a minor scuffle but ended in tragedy.

How the Fatal Incident Unfolded

The chain of events began when a group of children tried to enter the wedding procession where the groom was on horseback and family members were celebrating. According to police reports, the dispute escalated when the wedding kin asked the children to move aside, but they reportedly refused, triggering a quarrel.

The accused officer, identified as Madan Gopal Tiwari, who is posted in Kanpur and was in Delhi on leave to attend his cousin's wedding, allegedly shot the child in a fit of rage. Police were alerted by a passer-by who reported that a child had been shot near the Community Centre in the DDA Market.

When police teams arrived at the scene, they found the boy with a gunshot wound amid the commotion of a baraat moving through the lane. Despite being rushed to hospital, the teenager was declared brought dead upon arrival.

Family's Heartbreaking Account

The victim's father shared his devastating account with TOI, revealing that his son was on his way back from a shop when he came across the wedding procession and stopped since money was being thrown. "He was collecting some thrown money, which some people there did not like. They beat him up after that. When he did not leave, the man, who was intoxicated, shot him," the grieving father stated.

The child's brother was present at the spot and ran back home to inform the family about the horrific incident. The family, originally from Jharkhand, had come to Delhi in search of livelihood opportunities as labourers.

Police Action and Legal Consequences

Following the shooting, Madan Gopal Tiwari left for his hometown Etawah, but was subsequently arrested from there by Delhi Police. The case has raised serious questions about the conduct of armed personnel even when they are off-duty.

A source familiar with the matter revealed, "When he gets bail, CISF will initiate an inquiry as per the law. If a person is detained for more than 48 hours, the person is deemed to be suspended." This indicates that departmental action will follow the criminal proceedings against the accused constable.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community in Mansarovar Park and highlighted the dangers of celebratory events turning violent when weapons are involved. Authorities continue to investigate the exact circumstances that led to this tragic loss of a young life.
