In a disturbing incident from Chennai, an 18-year-old youth has been taken into custody by the police for allegedly attacking and threatening a teenage boy with a knife. The violent episode unfolded after the elder sister of the 15-year-old victim repeatedly turned down the accused's romantic advances.
The Harassment and Motive Behind the Attack
According to the police, the trouble began when Vijay Anand, aged 18, started persistently harassing an 18-year-old girl residing in the Puzhal area of Chennai. Despite her clear rejections, Vijay continued to approach her. Frustrated, he began to suspect that the girl's younger brother was influencing her decision to spurn him. This suspicion led Vijay to target the innocent 15-year-old boy.
A Terrifying Nighttime Assault
The situation escalated dramatically on Saturday night. Police reports state that Vijay, accompanied by three other individuals, confronted the young boy. The group then physically assaulted the minor. To heighten the terror, Vijay allegedly threatened the boy at knife point. He warned the victim that he would not be spared if he continued to oppose Vijay's proposal to his sister.
Police Action and Arrests
Following the traumatic incident, the boy's mother filed a formal complaint with the local authorities. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation. This led to the arrest of the main accused, Vijay Anand. Furthermore, law enforcement officials have also questioned his three accomplices, who have been identified as juveniles aged 16 and 17. The case highlights serious concerns over stalking and juvenile delinquency in the city.
