Two Men Arrested in Chennai for Abduction and Assault Over Unpaid Loan
In a disturbing incident in Chennai, two individuals were apprehended by the Maduravoyal police for allegedly abducting and physically assaulting a 34-year-old man due to his failure to repay a loan. The authorities have seized a car and two mobile phones that were reportedly used during the commission of the crime.
Details of the Incident and Victim
The victim, identified as Sureshkumar, aged 34, is a resident of MG Chakrapani Nagar in Valasaravakkam and operates a prefabricated compound wall business. According to police reports, Sureshkumar borrowed ₹2 lakh from one of the accused, Balaji, in January of this year. He managed to make a partial repayment but had agreed to settle the remaining amount by April 5.
Violent Confrontation and Forced Transfer
On April 11, the situation escalated when Balaji, accompanied by Narasimman, visited Sureshkumar's residence. The confrontation turned violent as the duo verbally abused him, assaulted him with an iron rod, and forcibly placed him into a car. While being transported, Sureshkumar was coerced into transferring ₹50,000 online to the perpetrators. He was subsequently abandoned near Arcot Road and Sridevi Kuppam.
Police Investigation and Arrests
Following Sureshkumar's formal complaint, the Maduravoyal police launched a swift investigation. They successfully traced and arrested Balaji, 32, from Nerkundram, and Narasimman, 31, from Alwarthirunagar. The investigation uncovered that Balaji had been involved in one prior criminal case, while Narasimman had three pending cases against him, indicating a history of legal issues.
Legal Proceedings and Custody
Both accused individuals have been remanded to judicial custody as the legal process moves forward. This case highlights the severe consequences of loan disputes turning violent and underscores the importance of legal recourse in financial matters.
