Major Spurious Liquor Factory Busted in Chatra District
In a significant crackdown on illicit alcohol trade, police authorities in Chatra district have successfully uncovered and dismantled a sophisticated spurious liquor manufacturing unit operating from a village under the jurisdiction of Itkhori police station. The operation, conducted on Saturday, resulted in the arrest of six individuals directly involved in this illegal enterprise.
Coordinated Police Operation Leads to Major Seizure
The breakthrough came when local police personnel intercepted two suspicious vehicles at a routine vehicle check point. Upon inspection, officers discovered substantial quantities of counterfeit liquor being transported in these cars. The immediate arrest of the occupants provided crucial intelligence that led investigators directly to the production facility located in Gullee Pargadha village.
During the subsequent raid, police teams made substantial recoveries including sixteen cartons of ready-to-sell spurious liquor, specialized machinery used in alcohol production, and significant quantities of raw materials required for manufacturing counterfeit alcoholic beverages. The operation revealed a well-organized setup where the illicit liquor was being systematically packaged into bottles bearing labels and caps of prominent Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) brands.
Sophisticated Counterfeiting Operation Exposed
"Many caps, stickers of prominent IMFL brands and other equipment used in the production of counterfeit liquor were recovered from the site," confirmed DSP Amit Lakra and Abhishek Kumar Singh, the officer-in-charge of Itkhori police station, during their official statement on Saturday.
The investigation uncovered that the arrested individuals were operating a comprehensive illegal syndicate that involved manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of spurious liquor intended for sale in the open market. The accused had established a production line capable of creating convincing counterfeit versions of established alcohol brands, complete with forged packaging elements that could easily deceive consumers.
Identities of Arrested Individuals Revealed
Police authorities have identified the six arrested individuals as:
- Nitesh Yadav (25 years old)
- Sanjay Kumar Yadav (22 years old)
- Shaurya Kumar Dangi (19 years old)
- Abhishek Kumar Rana (25 years old)
- Satish Kumar Rajak (21 years old)
- Tinku Ravidas (25 years old)
According to official statements, "Those arrested accused were running the illegal syndicate," said DSP Lakra, who further indicated that intensive interrogation is currently underway to identify the mastermind behind this operation and trace the complete supply chain network.
Broader Criminal Connections Under Investigation
In a significant development during questioning, the arrested individuals reportedly confessed to their involvement in an attempted theft at a jewellery shop within the Itkhori police station area. This revelation has prompted investigators to explore potential connections between this liquor manufacturing syndicate and other criminal activities in the region.
"We are probing the gang's possible links to other criminal cases as well," disclosed the DSP, indicating that the investigation scope has expanded beyond the immediate liquor manufacturing operation to examine broader criminal networks operating in the area.
The successful operation represents a major victory for law enforcement agencies in their ongoing efforts to combat the production and distribution of spurious alcohol, which poses significant health risks to consumers and results in substantial revenue losses for legitimate businesses and government exchequers.
