The event unfolded on Sunday during the Akhanda Hindu Sammelan procession. This gathering took place at Machhe village on the outskirts of Belagavi. According to reports, Thakur was traveling in an open vehicle as part of the procession.

When the yatra passed near the Ansari Dargah in Peeranawadi, Thakur allegedly made a specific hand gesture. Witnesses claim she mimicked the act of shooting an arrow toward the dargah. This gesture was reportedly accompanied by chants of Jai Shri Ram.

The actions allegedly caused offense and hurt the religious feelings of another community. A local resident, Abdul Khader Mujawar of Peeranawadi, filed the official police complaint based on these events.

Police Action and Charges

Belagavi Rural police responded promptly to the complaint. They registered a case against Harshita Thakur under relevant legal sections. The charges include insulting religious sentiments and promoting enmity between different communities.

Police did not stop with Thakur alone. They also named six other individuals in the complaint. These individuals are organizers of the Akhanda Hindu Sammelan event.

The named organizers include Supreeth Simpi, Shrikant Kamble, Bettappa Tarihal, Shivaji Shahapurkar, Gangaram Tarihal, and Kallappa. The complaint alleges they delivered speeches that could potentially incite communal sentiments during the event.
