Car Vandalized in Palanpur Over Rs 10 Lakh Loan Dispute; Assailants Attack with Iron Pipes
A routine journey turned into a harrowing ordeal on March 7 when a car was violently vandalized by a group of assailants on the Patan-Unjha road near Khodabha Hall in Palanpur. The incident, which police are investigating, is allegedly linked to a long-standing financial dispute involving a Rs 10 lakh loan.
Details of the Financial Feud and Attack
According to a complaint filed on Saturday by Jahaji alias Jahubha Thakor, aged 50, the conflict stems from a loan of Rs 10 lakh. His friend, Jitubha Rathod, a resident of Mudetha in Deesa, had lent this amount to Bhavesh Desai approximately one year ago. This transaction reportedly ignited a persistent feud between the parties, culminating in the violent confrontation.
The attack unfolded dramatically when the MUV (Multi-Utility Vehicle) was intercepted near Khodabha Hall by several black cars without number plates. Jahubha alleged that Bhargav Desai, the brother of Bhavesh Desai, along with associates armed with iron pipes, targeted the vehicle, specifically aiming for Jitubha Rathod. The assailants viciously vandalized the car, causing damages estimated at Rs 40,000.
Daring Escape and Police Response
In a bold move to evade further harm, Jitubha Rathod executed a daring escape by ramming the attackers' vehicles and speeding toward Mandotri farm house. The pursuing group reportedly abandoned the chase after noticing people in the vicinity, allowing Rathod to flee to safety.
Jahubha further claimed that when contacted later, Bhavesh Desai admitted to orchestrating the attack, adding a layer of premeditation to the incident. In response, the Patan B Division police have registered a formal case and launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Authorities are examining the evidence and statements to ascertain the full scope of the events and hold those responsible accountable.
This incident highlights the severe consequences of unresolved financial disputes and underscores the importance of legal avenues for conflict resolution. The community remains on alert as police work to ensure justice and prevent such violent outbreaks in the future.
