In a significant crackdown on cross-border smuggling activities, the Border Security Force (BSF) has successfully apprehended two suspected smugglers and recovered two sophisticated drones in separate operations conducted along the Indo-Pak international border in Punjab on Monday.
Joint Operation Recovers Advanced Drones
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a coordinated operation between the BSF and Punjab Police led to the recovery of a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone from agricultural land near Pallopati village in the Tarn Taran district. This high-end drone is known for its advanced capabilities and long-range operation.
In a separate but related development near Marikhamboke village, also in Tarn Taran sector, security forces seized another sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicle identified as a DJI Air 3S model. Both drones were discovered concealed in farmland areas close to the international border, indicating attempted smuggling operations from across the border.
Smugglers Arrested with Pakistani Contacts
In a parallel operation conducted in the Fazilka sector, BSF personnel demonstrated remarkable vigilance by detaining two individuals from Chak Bazida village near Tahliwala. The suspects were found in possession of mobile phones containing crucial evidence - contact information linked to Pakistan-based smuggling networks.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as active participants in cross-border smuggling rackets and were immediately handed over to the Punjab Police for detailed interrogation and further investigation into their activities and connections.
Ongoing Investigations and Border Security
Authorities have launched comprehensive investigations into these incidents, which form part of the continuous efforts to curb illegal cross-border activities along the sensitive Punjab frontier. The successful operations highlight the increasing sophistication of smuggling attempts using modern technology like drones.
The BSF spokesperson emphasized that these operations reflect the enhanced surveillance and intelligence-gathering mechanisms employed by security forces to combat transnational smuggling networks operating across the border. The recovery of advanced drones and apprehension of suspects with direct links to Pakistani networks marks a significant achievement in border security management.
Security agencies have intensified their vigil along the entire border stretch, employing both technological surveillance and ground patrols to prevent any illegal activities. The recent successes demonstrate the effectiveness of the multi-layered security approach adopted by Indian border forces.
