BRS Ex-MLA Rohit Reddy Returns to Chanchalguda Prison After Police Remand

In a significant development in the ongoing Hyderabad drug investigation, former BRS MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy and his brother Ritesh Reddy have been sent back to Chanchalguda Central Prison. This follows the completion of their two-day police remand, which concluded on Monday. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) had taken the siblings into custody for intensive questioning regarding their alleged involvement in a narcotics scandal that has rocked the political and social circles of the city.

SIT Grills Reddy Brothers on Drug Supply Chain and Financial Links

During the remand period, SIT officials conducted detailed interrogations of Rohit and Ritesh Reddy. The focus was on unraveling the intricate drug supply chain and examining certain financial transactions that are suspected to be linked to the case. A senior police officer involved in the investigation provided insights into the proceedings.

"We attempted to determine whether similar parties had been hosted at the farmhouse and to identify the roles of other individuals involved," the officer stated. "However, the responses from the accused were consistently vague and evasive, hindering our efforts to obtain clear information."

According to the SIT's findings, the cocaine and amphetamines used at the controversial party were supplied by three different peddlers. All three suppliers are currently absconding, and authorities are actively working to locate and apprehend them to record their official statements.

Absconding Accused Seek Anticipatory Bail, SIT Strongly Opposes

In a related legal maneuver, two of the absconding accused, identified as Abhishek Singh and Rakesh Varma, have filed petitions seeking anticipatory bail. They are alleged to have supplied the cocaine that was consumed at the farmhouse party. The petitions were presented before a local court in LB Nagar.

The SIT has vehemently opposed these bail applications. An SIT officer explained their stance: "We have opposed the bail, arguing that they were directly involved in the supply of narcotic substances and must be subjected to detailed interrogation to uncover the full extent of the network."

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court has reserved its orders on the petitions, with a decision expected on April 16.

Expanding List of Accused and Ongoing Investigation

The SIT has revealed that a total of 15 individuals have now been identified as accused in this high-profile case. Among them, three are currently absconding: Abhishek Singh, Rakesh Varma, and a Goa-based peddler known as Clinton.

"All three are suspected of having supplied narcotic substances to the co-accused who were apprehended at the farmhouse on the night of March 13," an officer confirmed, highlighting the gravity of the charges.

The case originated on March 13, when a coordinated raid was conducted by Eagle sleuths, along with Moinabad and SOT police, at Rohit Reddy's farmhouse in Moinabad. During the operation, 11 persons were caught under suspicion of engaging in drug-fueled partying and for allegedly opening fire at police personnel.

Notable among the accused were Rohit Reddy himself and TDP MP P Mahesh Kumar. Subsequent tests revealed that six of the 11 accused, including Rohit and Mahesh, tested positive for narcotics consumption. The police also seized 0.26 grams of cocaine, a revolver, and a live round from the other individuals present.

Following the raid, three of the accused—Rohit Reddy, Ritesh Reddy, and Namit Sharma—were remanded to judicial custody. The remaining accused have been issued notices, and most of their statements have been recorded as part of the investigation.

Police noted that MP Mahesh Kumar has yet to appear for questioning, citing official work commitments in Delhi. Meanwhile, Rohit Reddy has filed a bail petition in the high court, which is currently under consideration.

The SIT continues to pursue all leads, emphasizing the need for thorough interrogation of all suspects to dismantle the drug supply network and ensure justice is served in this complex case.
