Ahmedabad Schools Get Bomb Threats, Students Sent Home as Precaution
Bomb Threat Emails Target Ahmedabad Schools

Multiple educational institutions in Ahmedabad were thrown into alert on Wednesday after they received threatening emails claiming the presence of bombs on their premises. The police confirmed the incident, stating that as an immediate safety measure, students were given a holiday and sent home.

Immediate Police Response and Investigation

Vastrapur Police Inspector L.L. Chavda detailed the swift action taken by authorities. "After receiving information about the threat emails, immediate steps were taken to ensure the safety of students and staff," Chavda stated. He further informed that a few schools had received the bomb threat via email, prompting the decision to declare a holiday.

The investigation has been taken over by specialized teams. "Investigation is going on by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and Dog Squad," Chavda added. Security personnel are conducting thorough checks of the school buildings and grounds. A primary focus of the ongoing probe is to trace the origin of the emails and determine the credibility of the threats.

A Pattern of Hoax Threats Across India

This incident in Ahmedabad is not an isolated one and follows a disturbing pattern of similar hoaxes targeting schools in various Indian cities in recent weeks:

  • On December 15, at least 11 private schools in Jalandhar, Punjab, received bomb threat emails, leading to immediate evacuations.
  • On December 12, several schools in Amritsar were targeted with similar email threats, which were later declared a hoax.
  • On December 10, a wave of bomb threats hit several schools in Delhi.
  • One school in Gurugram also reported receiving a bomb threat, though its connection to the other incidents remains unclear.

Authorities Assure Public Safety

The Ahmedabad Police have assured citizens that all necessary precautions are being implemented to maintain public order and safety. The decision to suspend classes is viewed as a preventive step, prioritizing the well-being of children and school staff above all else. The authorities have urged the public not to panic and to rely on official information as the investigation progresses to find the source of these alarming communications.
