The incident occurred near the Kajubagan area of Kashijhariya, under the jurisdiction of the Pindrajora police station, sending shockwaves through the local community.

According to eyewitness accounts, the out-of-control trailer first struck an auto-rickshaw before proceeding to ram two more autos, several motorcycles, and cyclists. The collisions occurred at approximately five different points along the road, creating a scene of chaos and devastation. The force of the impacts left vehicles mangled and bystanders in a state of panic.

Victims Identified; Critical Cases Referred to Higher Medical Centers

The deceased has been identified as Suresh Mahto (21), a resident of Purulia district in West Bengal. The injured victims include Sudharshan Bauri, Prem Kumar, Sapan Bauri, Lal Babu, Usha Devi, Chotu Mahto, Dhananjay Mahto, Dhananjay Pramanik, Shravan Mahto, Kartik Mahto, Prasanjit Mahto, and Budhu Turi. All the injured were promptly rushed to Bokaro Sadar Hospital for initial treatment. Due to the severity of their injuries, three of the victims were later referred to higher medical centers for specialized care, highlighting the critical nature of the incident.

Police reports indicate that the trailer was traveling from Chas towards Purulia when it caused the series of collisions between Kurra and Kashijhariya. The vehicle was eventually forced to halt after a motorcycle became stuck underneath it, leading to the immediate detention of the driver at the scene. Preliminary investigations by the authorities suggest that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, raising serious concerns about road safety and driver accountability.

Local Outrage Leads to Road Blockade; Legal Action Underway

In response to the tragic event, angry locals blocked the Purulia–Dhanbad road for a period of time, protesting the incident and demanding stricter enforcement of traffic laws. Dhiraj Oraon, a police officer at the Pindrajora Police Station, confirmed that the trailer driver has been detained and stated, "Further legal action is being taken after medical examination and investigation." This statement underscores the ongoing efforts to ensure justice for the victims and their families.
