Bokaro Police Intensifies Security Preparations Ahead of Maha Shivratri Festival

In a proactive move to ensure peace and order during the upcoming Maha Shivratri celebrations, the Inspector General (IG) of Police for the Bokaro range, Sunil Bhaskar, conducted a comprehensive review of security arrangements on Thursday. The high-level meeting, held via video conference, included all Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) from seven districts under the Bokaro range.

Foolproof Security Measures Mandated by Police Leadership

IG Sunil Bhaskar issued strict directives to district police chiefs, emphasizing the need for foolproof security arrangements throughout the festival period. He instructed officials to deploy adequate police forces at all Shiva temples and other religious sites, with particular focus on locations identified as sensitive or hypersensitive. This strategic deployment aims to prevent any potential disturbances and ensure the safety of devotees.

Quick Response Teams and Riot-Control Gear on Standby

To handle any emergency situations, Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been placed on high alert. These specialized units are equipped with advanced riot-control gear, including stun grenades, tear gas shells, and rubber bullets. The IG emphasized that these teams must remain prepared for immediate deployment to address any law-and-order challenges that may arise during the festivities.

Preventive Actions and Surveillance Strategies

Police officials have been directed to take preventive legal action against individuals with a history of involvement in communal incidents. This includes monitoring areas with past disturbances to prevent recurrence. Additionally, the police will conduct thorough route verification for all Shiv Baraat processions, ensuring proper deployment of magistrates and security personnel along procession paths.

Enhanced surveillance measures include:

  • Conducting flag marches in crowded and mixed-population areas to maintain visible police presence.
  • Utilizing drone and video surveillance to monitor activities in real-time.
  • Directing technical and social media cells to vigilantly track online platforms to curb the spread of rumors.

Comprehensive Security Framework and Additional Initiatives

District control rooms across the seven districts have been put on high alert to coordinate security efforts effectively. In addition to festival-specific measures, police will launch special drives targeting drunk driving and illegal liquor trade, which often escalate during festive periods. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to maintain public order and ensure a peaceful celebration for all residents.

The IG's comprehensive review underscores the police department's commitment to proactive law enforcement, leveraging both traditional policing methods and modern technology to safeguard the community during Maha Shivratri.
