Bokaro: 4 deaths in 3 incidents, elderly couple murdered

The Bokaro district of Jharkhand was rocked by a series of violent incidents on Monday, resulting in four deaths across three separate cases that have sent shockwaves through the community.

Elderly Couple Brutally Murdered in Harla

In a gruesome discovery, an elderly couple was found murdered inside their room in the area under Harla police station. The victims, identified as Mahavir Saw (67) and his wife Kaushalya Devi (63), were originally from Barkhi-Chidri in the Gomia block. The couple ran a tea stall at Joshi Colony.

Officer-in-charge of Harla police station, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, stated that the two were discovered lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on their bodies. The police have sent the bodies for post-mortem examination, and a probe into the double murder is currently underway.

Unidentified Body Found Near Tenughat Dam

In a second unrelated incident, an unidentified body was recovered near the Tenughat Dam picnic spot early on Monday morning. The body bore severe injuries to the head and face.

Bhajan Lal Mahato, the officer in-charge of the Tenughat outpost, indicated that the victim was likely murdered elsewhere and the body was later dumped in the area. This body has also been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death and establish the victim's identity.

Family Vandalises Home Over Missing Mason

Tensions flared in the Chira Chas area following the disappearance of a mason named Pankaj Mahto. After Pankaj failed to return home from work on Sunday, his distressed family members vandalised the Shantinagar residence of a man named Harsh Karmakar.

Police had to intervene to rescue Harsh and his mother from the enraged crowd. Providing details, Pushpraj, the office incharge of Chira Chas Police Station, said that according to Harsh Karmakar, Pankaj Mahto had left his workplace around 4:30 pm on Sunday, leaving behind his mobile phone, jacket, and two-wheeler. The mason is now feared dead, and a search is ongoing.

Police Probe Multiple Threads

Local authorities are investigating all three cases separately. The brutal murder of the elderly couple in Harla is a primary focus, with police looking for motives and suspects. The discovery of the unidentified body near Tenughat Dam presents another challenge, requiring identification and tracing the location of the crime. Meanwhile, in Chira Chas, police are attempting to locate the missing mason Pankaj Mahto while also managing the fallout from the vandalism incident.

These back-to-back violent events have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty in the district, with residents urging the police for swift action and justice.
