Police in Siwan district recovered the body of a 23-year-old man from a deserted house in Khurmabad village under Mufassil police station on Saturday night. The deceased, Babu Hasan, son of Ahmad Ali, had been missing since June 19. Family members alleged that Hasan was murdered by his associates following a dispute over smack.

Sequence of events

According to the family, Hasan left home on Friday afternoon. When he did not return at night and his mobile phone was found switched off, they began searching for him. Later, locals informed them about a foul smell emanating from a room in a deserted house in Khurmabad. The family, along with residents, reached the spot and found Hasan’s body inside. The victim’s face was badly damaged and multiple injury marks were visible on his body.

Police response and investigation

Locals alerted Dial 112 helpline and the Mufassil police. A police team reached the spot, took the body into custody, and sent it to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Mufassil SHO Upendra Kumar Singh said police patrol and Dial 112 teams rushed to the spot after receiving information. “Initial inquiry with locals points to a dispute over smack. Whether it is murder or death due to other reasons will be clear only after the post-mortem report,” he said.
